blank line in mail merge

I created a template in Word 2010 using the Act create a template wizard. My list has address 1 and address 2 and most of my contacts have no address 2. Act leaves that line blank, and from I read it should close it automatically.

 

I have checked for spaces, etc and all looks good.

 

I have tried changing the field code based on some googling but I dont think I did it right

is it possible that since I hit shift - enter instead of just enter, that is causing the issue?

There's a good chance that's the problem. I notice the different line ending marks and just checked the standard Letter template and it uses the regular paragraph line endign for all lines in the address.

yes, that was the problem. I corrected by using just enter, then adjusted line spacing in between lines.
