act is unable to connect to the sync server

I keep getting this error message when trying to sync my remote with my server. 

 

I have not made any changes since it worked last.

 

Both versions of ACT are the same -  ACT! by Sage 2006 Version 8.0.2.81

 

I turned off my firewall and virus software on both machines to test and that didn't hel.

 

I am and have been using port 65200 on both machines.

 

Any thoughts on what to do next?

Have we been able to telnet/tracert successfully? Is the manage connection information/main host location in the synchornization panel the same as the actual host information?

 

The error message is usually indicative of a connectivity issues 

 

It may also be worth it to try to create a new remote from the server and see if it's capable of syncing.

That is most likely a timeout rather than an exact problem. I've been able to fix the problem by extending the timeouts for the sync. That requires editing a configuration file and I hesitate to give directions in an open posting.

Sweet!  Per your suggestion, I checked, and the IP address were not matched...  I checked everything else, but somehow the IP address on my server must have changed.

Chances are you server is on a dynamic IP scheme, which means it may change again in the future. Gaining a static IP from your ISP or using DNS may resolve your problem on a more permanent basis.
