act. integration and act.outlook.integration has stopped working

Act! Pro Version 19.2.146.0, Update 3

Outlook 2016 MSO (16.0.8201.2012) Office 326 32 bit

Windows 10

Since upgrading to ACT! Update 3 about a week ago keep getting error message "act. integration has stopped working"

When trying to use Tools >> Synchronise with Outlook the same error happens during "verifying changes".

However, emails were attaching.

Today another error keeps popping up: "32-bit act.outlook.integration has stopped working". Sadly emails are now not attaching at all.

Had tried this solution http://kb.act.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/38580/~/contact-and-calendar-sync-between-act%21-and-outlo... last week and again today but that doesn't help.

Any advice will be appreciated!

Re: act. integration and act.outlook.integration has stopped working

The suggestion to downgrade Outlook comes directly from Microsoft for applications experiencing these issues. They have not indicated any specific date but have stated that they will update the following Knowledgebase when a resolution for the issue is released: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3178906/icloud-crashes-when-synchronizing-data-with-outlook...
We are also working on alternate solutions to resolve this issue that will be released in later updates of Act!.

Re: act. integration and act.outlook.integration has stopped working

Hi TZAL,

There are currently known issues with recent updates to Microsoft Office as is described in the Knowledgebase article which you linked. The solution is to revert office to a stable version that allows the Act! integration to work correctly. If the process is successful, you should end up on Office version 16.0.4229.

To ensure this works, please do the following:

  1. In Outlook, click File
  2. Click Account
  3. Click Update Options
  4. Click Disable Updates, and confirm
  5. Then from the Attachments section of the Knowledgebase article, download and save the 2016_Office_UpdateTo16.0.4229.bat file
  6. Right-click the 2016_Office_UpdateTo16.0.4229.bat file and choose Run as Administrator to begin the downgrade Microsoft Outlook to build 16.0.4229.0.
  7. Open Outlook and check the version to confirm the downgrade completed successfully.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Your instructions were clearer than the article!

I needed to reboot and then everything worked as it should.

Can you advise when we can revert to keeping outlook up to date?
