Have message on screen that won't go away. that an update is available. I click, it downloads, it unpacks, it says that my version is not compatible with the update and continues to repeat the message. My version stats are below.
ACT! by Sage 2010 Version 12.0.409.0
i would like to get the update, but if that is not possible, then I would like to turn off the message.

A couple of things:
1. To disable the automatic checking when you start the program: in Act! > go to Tools > Preferences > Startup tab - uncheck the option for 'Automatically check for updates every ## days'. This will stop the message.
2. The 'not compatible' message: this could a sign of damaged Windows Installer files. Look at the Windows Add/Remove Programs screen and see if Act! is even listed there. If it is, what version does it show?
You can also try downloading the update file from the www.Act.com downloads website and apply it manually. Here is a link to an article with more detailed instructions: How to download and apply Act! 2010 SP1
