I upgraded from ACT 6 to 10 recently. While using 6, I could compose a letter via "Write" --> "Letter" almost instantly. Now with 10, it takes almost a minute to get my document open. I used MS Word 2003 as my editor in ACT 6. Now I use Word 2007 with ACT 10.
Currently I watch the "initializing mail merge" window for at least a minute before my document opens... and I have a very fast pc.

ACT! 10 uses more resources than V6, so having plenty of RAM is the key to making Windows and ACT! run better. A minimum of 1Gb and more is better.
Is it any faster if Word is already open?
