Write e-mail from template - ERROR- ACT 2008 (10.0) with Outlook 2003

I have been unable to write an email from a template in ACT! - I keep getting the following ACT! error when it merges:

"Unable to cast COM object of type "Redemption.safeMailItemClass' to interface type 'Redemption.ISafeMailItem'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface cal on the COM component for the interface with IID '{0A95BE2D-1543-46BE-AD6D-18653034BF87}' failed due to the following error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE)). "

I am running the version ACT! by Sage 2008 (10.0) Version 10.0.0.237, Hotfix 1
and the Outlook 2003 on a windows xp system.

The mail merge use to work before upgrade to 2008 from 2007 - I have tried creating new email templates no success.
The write email menu item works to create the blank email, but I am trying to use a template.

Any suggestions??

I'd try 2 things:
1. Do a Detect and Repair in Outlook
2. Download and apply the ACT! 10.01 update

Re: Write e-mail from template - ERROR- ACT 2008 (10.0) with Outlook 2003

I tried both the detect/repair and the upgrade to 10.0.1 - the same error still appears. The send email message in the write menu works loading MS Word as the email editor. I can also open up the any of the .adt templates as " other template" - it is just on the " write email message (from template)" that the error occurs. I also received an new error message while trying to write the email from template; that ActEmail.exe stopped working and needed to shut down. This was strange as I do not use the Act email.

I think the next step is to reinstall Outlook and see if it corrects the issue.

Any other ideas please pass them on - thanks for the assistance

Does it happen with all templates?

How about Letter.adt or one of the default templates that come with ACT!?

Does it happen from the demo database?

This is a longshot, but I've seen it work a few times with a similar error.
  1. Make sure ACT and Outlook are both closed (Outlook can have an open process even though you tried to close it)
  2. Start-->Run-->Cmd to open a Cmd window
  3. In the cmd window type the following 2 commands:

cd C:\Program Files\ACT\Act for Windows

regsvr32 redemption.dll

Try sending your email again.

First, yes, even the original default templates cause the error and I did try the email from templates in the ACT! Demo program - same error occured.
Second, I tried the longshot - and it worked!

I did go to task manager to shut down both the winword.exe and outlook.exe processes to make sure both programs were not running in the background.

After the command line instructions were entered - I got a redemption.dll successful pop up window.

Thanks for the assistance to both Mike and Ben.

Re: Write e-mail from template - ERROR- ACT 2008 (10.0) with Outlook 2003

I have tried these steps and they did not work. I am getting the same error messages and the email shows up in my drafts after I clear them. Very frustrating way to get any work done. Have been working with ACT! since the early 1990's and it seems the later version have a lot of trouble integrating with MS Office.
