I built a new computer and installed Windows 8.1. It will be operated as a stand-alone machine not on any network. I really would like to avoid the 8 hour take-over/install that I went through installing ACT! 2007 (version-10.0.1.199) in 2007 on my present Vista Home Premium machine. I will have to somehow import the 7 year old database.
Any advise will be greatly appreciated!!

Either ACT! 16 or 17 will work on Windows 8 and should have no problem installing. The easy way to move the database is to back it up using the ACT! backup and then do a Restore As on the new system with the new version of the ACT! program.
