I have Sage Act! Pro 2012 and it always opened fine in Windows 8. Last night I updated to Windows 10 & suddenly a can't access my Act database without a password. I've never used a password for my Act program and I don't remember setting one up. I tried not entering a password & just clicking OK, but the database won't open & I get an error message. The message says that my database cannot be accessed and I should check my network connection and verify that the database server is available. It also suggests that I may have to disable any firewall software on my computer or server. I can access the internet just fine. I haven't changed any firewall settings & if Windows 10 changed them, it hasn't affected any other program on my computer. Help! I need access to my database and fast!

Hi,
Please refer to the Knowledgebase article below, it is normally refrenced when a password is requested but you previoulsy did not have a request when opening a database.

I had the same problem upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Once I upgraded to Windows 10 I could no longer access my original database. It would ask for a password when I never had one originally.
I followed the instructions in the thread and it works perfectly now.
Good job ACT!

Running the most recent version of ACT!, updated Windows 10 over the weekend thru automatic updates. Now the database won't open, is no longer marked as share, and is looking for a password. I am a single user on 1 computer, do not use passwords. How do or what do I do to get all the databases open, all of which worked before the automatic update of Windows 10

The suggested post is an infinite loop! Clicking the link takes you to Answer ID 17715.
Go to step 5. It says if you have v9 or later, visit Answer ID 19640. Click that link, go to Step 5, it links you BACK to 17715!!!
Act Diagnostics tells me that my database status is RECOVER. I have Act 2010. Where to I proceed to get out of the infinite loop? Thanks.

Start services.msc ;look for a service called SQLServer(ACT7)
Stop it.
Restart it.
Wait 20 secs. Open ACT!. Problem should be gone.
