Why is there such a delay when hitting "OK"

Whether it's hitting the OK button for Notes or Activities or history or wherever, there is such an annoying 2-5 second delay before the form disappears that it seems like Sage is still behind the 8ball when it comes to crisp speed.  I use it to organize my own stuff, but when it comes to recommending it to a business that depends on ultra fast typers and data entry's need for speed, well.....

Anyone have any ideas why everything about ACT! is 20x's better than version 7.0 but the note/activities/history forms? It take so much time to process and close these forms after data input that I really am very hesitant on recommending this software to anyone else. I won't until this issue is solved.

Thanks,

Re: Why is there such a delay when hitting "OK"

[ Edited ]

Hello everyone. I never got a satisfactory answer on this.  I was wondering if anyone is also experiencing this.

When you "clear" an activity, how long does it take for the form to disappear so you could move onto the next task?  I have timed it and it's anywhere between 3 seconds and 7 seconds.  Often  it actually hit 15 seconds. This is not acceptable.

I have done everything Sage suggested to strip the bells and whistles out of my computer to optimize it for ACT!, but it still is a problem and always was a problem. I even went further to optimize my system to get rid of services in services.msc and EVEN MORE!I I should have brought it up in the past, but...

Would anyone have any ideas to improve the speed of the history, activity, cleared activity, note etc. forms?  They annoy me very much.

Thanks!

Pat

Have you tried the same operation in the ACTDEMO database? If so, is it faster or the same?

Re: Why is there such a delay when hitting "OK"

 Roy,

Thanks for the reply

No I never tried it, however I get this message when I try to open the ACTdemo:

---------------------------
ACT! by Sage
---------------------------
To finalize the registration, the database administrator must login first.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

What does this mean and how do i get rid of it?

Thanks!

Roy,

it won't even let me get that far.  That message precedes any request for username and password.

How to escape it?

Thanks!
