Why is ACT! so clunky?

ACT! 2011 HF4 on Win 7 with an adequate SSD /16GB RAM / i7

ACT! frequently hangs for seconds or even minutes unpredictably.  Why?

Would require someone to look at the details of your system to determine why you are experiencing that

ACT! itself is not clunky but can be temporarily stopped when Outlook does a Send/Receive.  Outlook seems to stop all PC activity whilst it does the Send/Receive so could be what you're experiencing.

Thank you for your response.  I can do other activities in other programs while Outlook is sending/receiving, but I will shut down Outlook and see if I experience these long pauses.

I think you were right.  When I keep Outlook closed, ACT! is much more reliable.  Thank you.
