Why does ACT! 2008 take up so much system resources?

Curious...Why does ACT! 2008 take up so much system resources?

I've got 1000 records in my Act, however, it almost crashes my system when I load it up. It's a real resource hog.

Other than that I like the program!!

I think it is the database - SQL Server.
I had to upgrade my RAM to keep from crashing.  I am now at 1.5 GB RAM, with 7500 contacts.
You may also want to check for other system hogs in your system, and pare them down to make room for the database.
Good luck!

Hey redmondsearch,

Thanks... I upgraded to 1.5 gigs as well and it seems to be working better.. however with only 500 meg it was pretty hard to work with..

Yup... really no point in trying it with only 500MB RAM. Same with most newer applications
