It essentially brings up a smaller, 3-month version of the calendar.  Pressing F4 on your keyboard will bring up the mini-calendar in any view in ACT!. If you go to Tools>Preferences>Calendar & Scheduling tab>Calendar Preferences, you can select an option for the mini-calendar show only the current month. If you right-click on any date on the mini-calendar, it will show a list of the activities scheduled for that day. You can open or clear the activities that show in that list. Right-clicking on the list will give you additonal options. If you double-click on a day, it will take you the daily calendar view for that day. Basically, it makes your calendar available to you anywhere in the program.

Note: Effective 6/1/13, Sage no longers provides support for the Act! software. This is now provided by Swiftpage.

I like being able to see a view of more than the current month.  Also it is a quick way to reschedule by dragging to the next month.
