What's Your Opinion on Attach Shortcut or File In Documents Tab?

ACT 2010

Windows 7, Enterprise

What is your opinion on attaching documents as either the shortcut or the document?  Besides the obvious of the long displayed url of the doc.

I like the fact that the shortcut leaves the document in tact so that updates to the doc will always be included when clicked on.

I don't like the lengthy name.  (I've requested a changed to that with ACT)

I don't like having another copy of the document when it is attached.  Not very green.

I do like the fact that an attached document can be modified to reflect specific information for the contact.

If Sage ever changes the naming convention, I would support the shortcut approach.

What am I overlooking?

As a general rule, I suggest attaching the documents unless you are in a sync environment or you are attaching a large volume of documents. For the latter case use shortcuts. Attaching documents will rapidally increase the size of the database and thus increase sync times hence the sugestion, Otherwise it's a case of personal preference.
