I just got Act 2011 and there used to be a tab under "Contact" that said record history" where it would pull up the activity itself and then I could say, left message, completed or whatever. I can't seem to see how to do that now. Any ideas> I see where I can record a history but I have to input all info each time.

New history is there but I have to type in what the call was each time as opposed to recording the history of what was scheduled. Does that make sense?

Yes because what you're describing is clearing an activity which is a different operation.

So i guess I am trying to record an activity such as "left a message", I used to just have to click on "contacts" then "record history" So how do I record an activity?

What was your previous version of the ACT! program? I don't recall ACT! ever doing what you describe unless you were clearing an activity that you had previously scheduled.
