Trying to install ACT Standard from CD 04361, v220.127.116.11 on my Vista SP1 computer.
I get two errors during install, (program not responding dialog boxes) but installation completes successfully.
At this point ACT will not load. A computer reboot take an extra minute now & I get the same "not responding" dialogs during reboot.
I then tried to install the Vista Hotfix, ACT!905571, but it refuses to run based on my .162 version.
Is there any solution other than overpaying just to move to v10?

"Program Not responding" is not an error message. It means the program is busy doing something.
Microsoft made a lot of changes in Vista and again in SP! that makes older products not run well. Upgrading to 10 is probably the smartest ways.
Or you could try installing in selective startup mode
