When I click View E-mail, ACT! ends up opening Write E-mail. I thought clicking View E-mail would give me the ability to view my Microsoft Outlook inbox. Did I set ACT! up incorrectly?

The issue you are describing was a reported issue with the initial release of ACT! 2010 (12.0). This issue was fixed with the SP1 Hotfix 1 update. Please see the following Knowledgebase article for download and installation instructions:
If you are using a shared database or a remote database in a multi-user environment, then all machines with ACT! installed must apply this update, starting with the server hosting the main database.
Note: Effective 6/1/13, Sage no longers provides support for the Act! software. This is now provided by Swiftpage.
