Using a merge command with an ADT file

I'm a fairly new ACT  user with ACT Pro 2011 Version 13.1.111.0, Hot Fix 4.  When trying to set up a merge command "<Title>" into an existing ADT file, that command will not merge, but the other merge fields (that were already in the document) will work correctly.  Obviously I'm doing something wrong.  (If I had hair, I'd be pulling it out about now).

Can someone please pass me some knowledge I don't have?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Re: Using a merge command with an ADT file

Hi Larry!

Welcome to ACT! :-)

You need to make sure you are inserting the codes from the ACT! Fields box, not typing in the codes yourself.

When you open your template to edit it, you should see a floating box that contains a list of your ACT! fields.  Place the cursor in the document where you want the Title field to go... then insert the field from the list after you have highlighted it.

Hope that helps.

Mark,

If the floating box does not come up, how do I call for it?

Thanks very much for your advice.
