Upload User Data to Existing Contacts

I would like to populate the 'User 1' field in ACT for about 3000 existing contacts with data that I have in an Excel file containing two fields (Contact and User1).  If this were being done by SQL it would be something like (Update User1 field where xlsContact=actContact). Is it possible to upload and do a join like this within ACT?

Your best bet is probably to look at a product like OakMerge...

Re: Upload User Data to Existing Contacts

You can use the Act! Import function (File > Import > Text Delimited) to populate the field, my only concern will be the use of a single field to perform Duplicate Checking should you have multiple contacts with the same name.

Here is a link to instructions for the Import process: Import Text Delimited File

This process will work most easily if the target field is empty and you use the 'Merge' option.

Always make a backup of your database before making mass changes to your database (File > Backup > Database).
