We would like to upgrade to ACT! Premium 2012, but we were told it has to run on SQL Server 2008 R2.
Currently we have SQL Server 2008. On the system requirements for 2012 it states:
"Sage ACT! uses SQL Server® 2008 R2. If you would like to use a different edition of SQL Server other than the one provided, please consult Microsoft documentation for specific requirements for that edition."
Does that mean we can run 2012 on SQL Server 2008 without purchasing SQL Server 2008 R2?

Note: Effective 6/1/13, Sage no longers provides support for the Act! software. This is now provided by Swiftpage.
