I want to upgrade the latest hotfix for release 17 sp2 but i'm always baffled with following error:
"This update does apply to your version of Act..."
I'm downloading the executable from http://www.act.com/resources/downloads/act-pro-v17
My current version is specified below:
I already found a post about a registry key to check, but this isn't present on my machine.
Operating system is windows 2012 R2.
Anyone with a clue where to look?

The link you have provided looks like it may be the US site downloads.
Could you please check the link for V17.2 Hotfix 2 from this download site and attempt to apply it:-

I have confirmed with the developers that the hot fixes were universal so I am not sure why it will not allow you to apply the hot-fix to your version.
Therefore I would recommend that you firstly backup your database(s) and then remove Act! from Programs and Features, and then reinstall using the install media from this download:-

looks like you only need the hotfix2. i would not uninstall and reinstall act over this.
