Unwanted attachment added to mail merge

[ Edited ]

Whenever I send an e-mail (one off or via a mail merge) with an e-mail signature containing an image, ACT attaches an (unwanted) png file: /Users/mail/Appdata/Local/Temp/temp4653_files/image001.png.

Why does this happen, and what can be done to eliminate it?

ACT Pro Version 18.2

Office 365

Database is on my local machine (private database)

Operating system is Windows 10

Thanks Gary for your quick and thorough reply.

I hadn't even considered ACT!'s e-mail marketing - I think I'll give it a look!

Re: Unwanted attachment added to mail merge

Hi Craig,

I apologise but this is a known issue with sending templates containing images as emails. We're aware of the issue and are working towards fixing this issue in an upcoming update of Act!. For reference, the defect has been logged as D-04092.

There is a workaround for the issue as described in this post.

For larger email campaigns, it's always recommended to use an emarketing solution to send the emails for you. Act! emarketing is built into Act! and includes emails to 500 contacts each month for free.
