I recently had to uninstall ACT in a remote computer due to a corrupt DB. Now I try to reinstall after a cold computer boot with antivirus turned off and the program will not run at all. I get the "ACT9/2007 has encounter an error and needs to close." before the splash screen even comes up. What do I need to look for to troubleshoot this problem? I am running WinXP w/ SP3.

I tried using the .NET 2.0 cleanup utility in the article and then did a clean reinstall of ACT (including .NET 2.0 from the disc) but it still has the same error message. One interesting thing was that on the first launch after the reinstall it gave the Outlook error message first and then the subsequent launches gave the same "ACT Has Encountered an Error..." message.
