Unable to fix Schedule an Activity Delay

I have a big delay when I schedule an activity. Once I hit OK, ACT takes 15 - 20 seconds to process it and just hangs.
I found something that explains how I might fix the problem:

The problem is that I can only follow the directions up to  5 Choose Options, Remove Index Files because when I get to that point I don't have anything that comes up saying Options. 

 

ACT Diagnostics comes up and there is no Options to choose. 

 

This lag is very annoying. Can anyone offer any suggestions?

I would download an apply the 10.03 update - if sharing the database via LAN or sync, you must update all systems,

 

Then try a Check and Repair (under Tools | Maintenance)

Failing that, how much RAM do you have?

That article is for ACT! 6.0 and earlier, but you've posted in the ACT! 7.0 and later area.

 

What version of ACT! do you have (full build from Help | About)?

How many contacts?

Is the database local or on a server?

Oops. Didn't even realize that.

 We have ACT! by Sage 2008 (10.0) Version 10.0.1.199

 

Contacts are at 13,888 and the database is local.

Excellent. I'll give these all a try.

Not sure how much ram I have but I do know I have as much as the computer will allow since we added some last year.

None of these things worked for me. 

Could the problem be that I use Firefox for my browser?

Firefox wouldn't affect it (I use Firefox also).

 

Is it a network database or local?

How many contacts?
