I have always attached a Word.doc to the history of a contact to keep my notes. I find this better than the ACT notes since I can copy charts and pictures into the Word.doc.
After upgrading from ACT 6 to ACT 2009, I started noticing the ACT file getting bigger and bigger. I finally realized by attaching files that the files are actually ATTACHED to ACT. (I don't think ACT 6 did that). I see my other option is to LINK to the file.
So now I want to start deleting the attachments and start making them links.
But ACT gives me an error response 'Unable to delete a history'.
I looked at the HELP screens and it says to delete an attachment just the way I am doing it.
I've looked at PREFERENCES and don't see a way to 'allow' me to detele. Perhaps there is a PERMISSION somewhere I don't know how to update.
This is ACT 2009, single user license. I am the admin and user. It is on Vista 64bit.
It is probably an easy fix, I'm just not seeing any. Can anyone help?

Adding to my post above -
A week or so ago I installed the service pak. I'm vaguely thinking I could delete a history before the service pak install. Maybe that is part of the issue?
