I am running ACT! by Sage 2008 on a pc running vista 32 bit.
the backup feature is not working anymore. I get the following error message
the following error occurred during backup. the backup was cancelled.
cannot open backup device 'C:\users\xxxxxxx. Operating system error 5 (Access is denied.)
BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.
PRC_MAINT_BACKUPDB:ERROR EXECUTING DATABASE BACKUP STATEMENT.
I have admin privileges so I am not sure what is causing the error. I noticed when I select backup the filename has an extra zip.zip extension. i.e. filename.ZIP.zip I removed the extra zip but still having issues. I tried doing a database repair also.
can you help?

Try running ACT! as administrator or disable UAC.
Run ACT! As the Administrator
Disable User Account Control (UAC)
If that doesn't work, then it could be an issue with the path reaching max length. Create a folder off the root of C and move your database there. Then try to create the backup.
