Trying to do a lookup

[ Edited ]

Please bear with me.  I am new to this version.  I had Act. 4.0 a while back.

I am trying to look up birth dates.  The format I have them listed in is xx/xx/xxx and when I try to do a look up for all October birthdates I enter in 10/**/**** and it finds none then I try 10/*/**** nothing and finally try just 10 and still nothing.  Each time a message come up saying "The value you typed in does not match the type for this field"

What am I doing wrong?

Re: Trying to do a lookup

The first thing the wildcard for SQL is % and not *.

Is the field a date field or a character field? If it's a date field you should change the data type to annual event. There is a special lookup for annual event fields that ignores the year and should do what you want.

Re: Trying to do a lookup

That's it!!  I have the field as a Date and it is scheduled for an annual event.  How do I lookup that?
