The database could not be accessed. AGAIN

I am getting a little sick of this piece of software.

If i don't open a database for more than a week or so, i have to go to these ridiculous lengths to find it again

This time i got the same error message as I did in December

that with your advice wwe eventually recovered

This time once I deleted it in actdiag I went to open it again and got this.

AS always I would dead grateful for help recovering my data.

I promise not to come back and ask again.

I can't keep doing this.

Re: The database could not be accessed. AGAIN

The reason you're getting this error is because you compressed your hard drive.

- Close ACT!

- Go to "My Documents\ACT\ACT for Windows 9\Databases"

- Highlight - MethuenRailTrail.ADF, MethuenRailTrail.ALF, MethuenRailTrail.PAD, MethuenRailTrail-database files

- Right click and select Properties.

- Select Advanced, uncheck "Compress content...", and click Ok

- After its finished decompressing, attempt to open your database.

Re: The database could not be accessed. AGAIN

Thank you that worked very well.

Since I never deliberately compressed my hard drive, how did this happen?

What windows XP software or utility would compress this database?
