Takes forever to clear an ACTIVITY...

Anyone know why and have a solution?

Your problem is likely related to the issue in this thread:

Short version is that if you click on an email address in Act to send on Outlook message, subsequent Act activity clearing, rescheduling etc. becomes extremely slow.  Act has know about this issue for months and is working on a fix.  Until Act fixes the issue, the workaround is to not create new emails by clicking on email addresses in Act.  Instead, type the name of the person in a new Outlook message and let Outlook pull the email address from Act.  This does not cause the Act slowness.

If it is permissible, you might try clearing out the cleared activities to see if that helps (if there are a lot).  (Be sure that you are not depending upon this information for dashboards or reports first though...)

 

An admin user can run the tool from Tools -> Database Maintenance -> Remove old Data...

What version of ACT! (full build from Help | About)?
