Sync ACT with External Database

Hi,

We are researching ways of syncing our ACT data with an external database that runs one of our product systems.  Since we're using the ACT Sync with some remote users, is there a log table that we can easily check to see inserts and updates of Company and Contact data?  Has anyone done anything similar with keeping ACT synced with another system?

According to this thread (http://community.act.com/sage/board/message?board.id=ACT&message.id=34857&query.id=1544885#M34857), we can find deletions only by looking at all of the user records and comparing to the most recent sync.  Is that correct?

Version: 10.0.3.182

Thanks

Scott

Re: Sync ACT with External Database

Add a Plugin with the SDK to detect when a record is deleted and store the UID in a table that you read to delete the matching record at the other side

Re: Sync ACT with External Database

There are a number of ways to achive this, but not by looking at ACT!'s sync logs.

What's the other database in?

Do you have development skills on staff?

You might have a look at:

Re: Sync ACT with External Database

Hey Mike,

The other database is SQL Server and we do have developers on staff.  I think my developer has already located the ACT SDK, which looks like it's probably the best option for reading and writing information to the ACT database.  I think where we're stuck right now is on finding deleted records.  Finding new and updated should be simple enough, just by comparing our last sync time with the Create Date and Edit Date fields.  Any suggestions on how to find deletions?

Thanks

Scott
