Sorting History entries in ACT! 2009 - only available on a single column?

I have an urgent need to structure how ACT! Histories are displayed in a way that doesnt appear to be supported currently. I'd be really pleased to hear from anyone who has encountered (and resolved) a similar issue or has created (or has the ability to develop for us) a workaround...

 

In the History tab, if the Groups/Companies column header is clicked, Histories are then sorted alphabetically by any Group or Company with which they are associated. There appears to be no 'second' sort level after this. For example, I'd prefer to sort initially by Group/Company and then by create date, but it doesnt currently work in this way. You can add or remove columns, reposition them etc, but still the presentation of Histories (after the first sort level) appears to be completely random.

 

Any thoughts, suggestions or ideas would be very welcome.

You are correct, the notes and history tabs are limited to a single sort level.
