Sort not functioning right

Hi,  I have ACT! by Sage 2009 (11.0) Version 11.1.183.0

I would like to print a report sorted in alpha order (company or anything else).  I go to the contact list, sort my desired row.  I can see it sorted correctly, but it doesn't print in the same order.  Please help.  Is there an option or hidden code causing the error?

Thank you

Re: Sort not functioning right

Which report? Many of the reports have built in sorts that override a presort.

That's not the name of a report. What are the steps for what you are doing?

Re: Sort not functioning right

Sorry.  I'm at a convention and my mind needs rest. It's actually the Contact report.  I actually modified the entire report and removed many of the fields. Pretty much a total custom rebuild.  I've always been told it's better to rebuild then start new because of the extra components.  Thanks

Re: Sort not functioning right

The contact report has a built in sort on contact. With ACT! 6, starting with an existing report tempalte and modifying it to create a new template generally worked because the ACT! 6 reports didn't support cripting and had limited properties available. In the later versions of the ACT! program since ACT! 6, it's best to build report templates from scriatch or modify one that you have created. Virtually all the later reports have some VB script programming in them and unless you go through and find and understand all the scripts, you can run into problems modifying a standard repord. Also moat of the standard reports uns generic opject name for the files (Field1, Field2, etc.) that make analysisng the scripts vary dificult.

Re: Sort not functioning right

What about the History Summary Clasic. I want to sort by company, not contact. Is that possible?

Re: Sort not functioning right

Yes, it requires modifying sort in the templates

Re: Sort not functioning right

So can I change it in the modified report I created, or somewhere else?
