Contrary to the information of the smart task knowledge base arcticle, clicking the enable, disable button is not a solution.
Senior leve technical support confirmed this and said that they work working to solve the problem. Surprisingly they have not had many complaints. Issues such as these and the relatively few complaints that result lead me to wonder how many people are in fact using smart tasks? Your thoughts?

I have a smart task that I need to stop as well. I have deleted the smart task and it still runs every time I start ACT. I hope they find a fix soon.

Would be nice but I am afraid we may be waiting for a while.
I am more concerned that I have not been getting any response from any of the senior consultants or Act! representavies on most issues related to Smart Tasks.
My guess is that there are few who are using ST, know how to use it or have invested the time and effort to learn it.
Too bad really given the time saving and systemizing potential benefits of ST.
