Setting up e-mail to record history in ACT! 2009

I have migrated all of my ACT! database data from a stand-alone laptop computer to a corporate desktop; the data are accessed now via our branch server.  I followed the steps to set up e-mail so that messages sent are recorded in a contact's history.  Clicking the e-mail address automatically opens Microsoft Outlook and populates the e-mail address.  The e-mail can be sent in Outlook, however a history is not recorded in ACT!   I have selected "From" and "To" contacts to be included in history.  Any thoughts?

Re: Setting up e-mail to record history in ACT! 2009

A few checks to make..
  1. When you open Outlook, do you see the ACT! icons (representing 'attach to ACT contact', 'create new contact' etc.) on the Outlook toolbar?
  2. Has the ACT!-Outlook service been disabled in Outlook (Outlook 2003 - help, about Outlook, disabled items; Outlook 2007 - 'tools', 'trust center', 'add ins', 'COM add ins')?
  3. Is the Act.Outlook.Service.exe service running? (open Task Manager by right-clicking on Windows Task Bar at foot of screen, select 'Processes' ab and click on 'Image Name' to sort alphabetically - do you see this service running?)
If none of the above suggest a solution, you might want to follow the suggestions in KBA 19948
