Setting up a default email account

I am trying to start using Act 11 through Parallels on a MacBook Pro. I have OE 3.2 and Windows XP.

 

In Act, when I click on a contact's email address, I get the message

 

"The email message cannot be created because the default email account is not ready."

 

How do I make "the default email account" - whatever that is - "ready"?

OE meaning Outlook Express?  ACT! requires OE 6.0 and that version is preloaded with Windows XP.  If your email account's pop/smtp doesn't require custom ports, you can setup internet email instead.

My company only provides me with Act 6.0 and I am trying to set up "internet mail"

I set it up and do the test in the advance field and it says it connects with server.

However when I actually try and send an email it goes online and I always get an error message,

"the host imap.gmail.com was not reachable.  please ensure you have the right name."

I have tried several email address and settings and it will not work. 

Can anyone help?
