Setting up ACT! E-Mail on computer served by wireless internet router

I have been trying to set up ACT! E-Mail.  However, I can't get it to access the SMTP & POP3 servers.  My computer is being linked to the internet via a Linksys 2.4 GHz Model WRT54GS wireless router-G BB router w/ speed booster.  When I do the setup option, the final screen asks for a test send, and it is there that the errors appear.  I have spoken with the internet provider (AT&T).  They gave instructions that didn't work.  I worked with ACT! support and that didn't work (Case #11036472).  Each seems to think that the problem has to do with the other.  Outside of ACT!, I don't have any problem accessing the internet nor sending e-mails, although I can't get Microsoft Outlook Express to work either.   Any suggestions?

If you can't get OE to work, it's unlikely to be just and ACT! issue.

What are you using "outside of ACT!" to send emails that's working?

What version of ACT! (the full build from Help | About)?

Hello Mike,

Thank you for the attention and expertise!

Outside of OE, I go to gmail and send and receive emails.

I am using ACT! 2007 (9.) versions 9.0.1.162.

Flourish & prosper,

If you have Outlook, I think it can connect to Gmail (and probably AT&T also) - then ACT! can use Outlook.

This is usually the best way to use ACT!... and even better with the new ACT! 2009
