Setting a primary contact for an opportunity

Is there any way to assign a single contact as the "primary contact" for an opportunity? Ideally this contact would be added to the main Opportunity layout rather than in the contacts tab.

I don't beleive you mentioned which version of Act!, so it could differe a bit...


There is really no facility in Act! to show this or to create a custom field that is specific to the relationship between a contact and an opportunity.


That said, one solution, albeit perhaps a bit kludgey:


In versions of Act! 2009 and earlier, you could perhaps use one of the User fields, change the label to 'Primary Contact' and enter the contact name there.


In 2010 you could create a custom field for the main detail screen and again use it to enter the Primary Contact there.  Yes, it is kind of duplication, but it is a possibility.


One of the add-on tools such as TopLine Results Designer or Durkin Toolkit might let you do something else...
