Sending email from contact screen on ACT 2009

When sending email from a contact screen using the email hyperlink there is no history created even though my preferences are set to attach the email to the contact.  When sending from ACT email, the history is created.  I have reset my preferences and still no luck.  Any ideas on why this is.

yes, history is created when sending out of Act email screen.

I also just noticed that when I click on the toolbar button to "write an email message"  from the individual's contact, the ACT client is also brought up with my default preferences already loaded in.  I will use this method going forward but I would like to know why t doesn't work when using the hyperlinked email address from the email field in the contact screen.  Is this a flaw in ACT 2009?
