Scheduling an activity defaults...

Hi all,

I'm using ACT 2009 v.11.0.

When scheduling an activity, is there a way to remove myself as the default person I'm scheduling with?  My name always appears in the Schedule With... box and I have to remove myself, enter the contact I truly want to schedule with, and there's several extra clicks involved there...

I just want it to come up blank so I can start typing and the Contact I want to schedule with pops in, and I don't have to delete my own name first.

Re: Scheduling an activity defaults...

Hello Collin,

When you are creating an Activity, the "Schedule With" field will automatically populate with the name of the last open contact. If you have not opened any contacts records prior to creating the activity or if you are looking at your own user contact record, then your name will pop in there.

Re: Scheduling an activity defaults...

I'm not sure I understand your question, except that it says you are a new member.  Maybe you haven't been using ACT very long, and if this is not the case please forgive my rather basic answer.

Look up the contact with whom you want to schedule an activity.  The activity will show as a future activity in the contact's activity tab.  It will also come up on the dasboard or just in the pop-up alarms.  When you complete the activity, it will show the action you took as completed in the history of the contact.

Please forgive me if my assumptions are wrong, and I hope I didn't insult you in any way.

Re: Scheduling an activity defaults...

Hello Colin - the general idea is that you would locate the Contact record of the person with whom you want to schedule the activity, prior to scheduling.

This would automatically include the name of the correct Contact in the 'Schedule With' field.

Re: Scheduling an activity defaults...

Well the general way that we are scheduling activities is from the daily or workweek calendar view, right clicking and choosing Schedule... then the appropriate appointment type.  Unfortunately, when we do that, in the window that pops up, it is automatically including the user's name in the schedule with... field.  We want to have that field blank and just begin typing a name from the Contacts database instead of deleting out the current user's name, then choosing the contact we're scheduling with.

I know it's a nitpick, but it would save a few precious mouseclicks :-)
