Scheduling (Separate) Activities for Multiple Contacts

ACT for Financial Professionals

 

I recently mailed an invite to an investment workshop for 50 of my clients; a Group has been created for the event.

 

I then wanted to create separate Activities for each client individually, reminding me to make a follow up call to each of them. 

 

Help indicated I should open an Activity window and select the 50 Contacts - under "Schedule With".  To assign the same activity to the 50 different people individually, I should select Options (top right corner) and "Create separate activity for each contact".

 

PROBLEM: the option appears for me but - when I select it - nothing happens. 

 

Anyone else run into the same glitch?  Is there a fix?  Any help greatly appreciated.

OK...very weird, but it works now.

 

It worked on the demo DB right away.  As soon as I opened up my own DB, it started working they way it's supposed to.

 

How about that?

Nothing will happen till you create the activity. With that option selected, it should create 50 activities instead of 1

Tried that - it merely created a single activity regarding multiple contacts.

 

Also noticed that the other option (send e-mail alert to contacts) works just fine...when I click it, a check mark appears next to it and an additional note appears on the main activity tab.

 

No such check mark appears for the "create separate activities" though.

 

Have I stumbled on a bona fide glitch?

I get the Check Mark.

 

Do you have multiple Contacts in the With box?

Can you try it in the demo database?

 

What version of ACT! (the full build from Help | About)?

Yes - there are multiple contacts in the box.

 

Wow...it DID work in the demo. 

 

Version 9.0.1.464 Hotfix 1 /Act for Financial Professionals.

 

Thanks for you attention, really appreciate it.

 

Now very curious why it will work for the demo, but not my own database.

Financials isn't available here, so not sure... maybe try a database repair with ACTDIAG?

Aloha,

 

I've been goin' nuts with this same problem.  I searched this Message Board and found the recommendation about the Demo database.  I opened the Demo, the Option worked, I then opened my database and the Option is working again.

You might want to check the following setting:

 

Tools | Preferences | Calendar & Scheduling | Scheduling prefeerences

 

At the bottom of the box, make sure you check "create separate activities when scheduling with multiple contacts."

 

My experience has been that this setting can occasionaly go off in some act versions requiring you to reset it.

But every now and then I want the Activity to be scheduled for a number of contacts, i.e. when I clear it for one contact it will clear it for all.  I uncheck the box under OPTIONS in the Scheduling Box, but it still creates separate activities.

 

Help?
