Schedule Preferences

I have set my To Do's to automaticly update to the current day if they are not completed. They won't update until I shut down the program and reboot. On my dashboard I have to click on the filters option on the  10 opportunities window portion of the dash board and click OK before it will update the schedule at a glance portion of the dashboard window.  When I click on the filter option of the  opportunities window I am not changing any settings. I just clik on the filter and click OK.  It is really odd. Nothing seems to be an automatic  update. It use to work until I upgrade to Act pro 2013. Can anybody help?
