I am trying to reinstall my Act on a new computer (Windows 7) and I keep getting a message Microsoft SQL Server - Error Code 17058. I have searched the internet looking for a solution to this problem...... Any help would be appreciated......

Try right clicking on the ACT! setup.exe and choosing Run as Administrator.

Too Bad.... it didn't work. I tried that. It loaded and when I try to start a new data base it says "Not Responding" "There is an error connecting to the Microsoft SQL Server."

Check to see if the SQL server is running.

I went to Run - service.msc - When I click on SQL Server (Act 7() it tries to start and then says it would not start on local computer - then the error code 17058

That could be a corrupted SQL server instance but the first thing I would do, if you havent already, restart the computer. The server loads a boot time and may need a refresh. Otherwise I suspect the only fix is to uninstall the ACT! program along with the ACT! instance of the SQL server and reinstall. A couple of years ago I had to do that on one of my systems.

I did restart, uninstalled Act and reinstalled and the same problem. The SQL server for ACT, do I have to uninstall that separately? I didn't want to do anything just in case. Will the ACT resinstall it? Thanks for your help....

Yes it has to be uninstalled separately and yes the ACT! install will reinstall it.
