I recently have had problems opening existing database says check to see if database server is working, remove firewalls, etc. I have copy of my database saved in .pad extension, it worked a week or so ago and now will not open it?

Since it was working before, it most likely is because the 'SQL Server (ACT7)' service is not running. Here is an article with several steps for resolving this issue, but check the step "The SQL Server Browser and/or SQL Server (ACT7) services are not started or is disabled" first: KB Article 19640

I think what I did was simply uninstall and reinstall the program and it worked.
