SQL server issues when installation ACT 2011

Hello,

I've been trying to install Act 2011 on a windows 8 machine, but have gotten stuck. Believe the issue first arrose when I installed the wrong version of Act 2010 when I actually needed Act 2011. They use different SQL versions, however it doesn't seem to matter. As when I install Act, the ACT 7 SQL service does not appear nor does it make the database it seems. Checking the SQL logs it shows the following message "

Specified instance {FBD367D1-642F-47CF-B79B-9BE48FB34007} via transform :InstID01.mst;:InstName01.mst is already installed. MSINEWINSTANCE requires a new instance that is not installed.
MSI (s) (F4:94) [13:43:31:861]: MainEngineThread is returning 1639"

Any hints as to ways to correct this message. I tried to follow acts directions on removing SQL manually, but does not seem to work or possibly made it worse. I've tried using SQL to remove itself, but that does not seem to work. Any hints would be appreciated.
