SQL(ACT7) Instance running

My old laptop burned up and I bought a new one. I went on line and downloaded the newest version for a trial, then later found my paperwork for my old version ACT2010, which I had paid for and had a key. I uninstalled the trial and and tried to load the 2010 version, now I get this SQL(ACT7) instance is running. I have windows 7 and I can't get into anything to use the fix found on the support page. Can you help?

Re: SQL(ACT7) Instance running

Hello Waltfrick,

Welcome to the Sage ACT! Online Community!

This issue is most likely caused by the different versions of Microsoft SQL Server used by the 2010 and 2012 versions of Sage ACT!.

If there are no other programs using Microsoft SQL Server on your computer, try:

- Uninstall ACT!

- Uninstall Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (all components)

- Reboot

- Browse to 'CSmiley Tonguerogram Files' > rename folder 'Microsoft Sql Server' (add '- old' to end)

- Install ACT! (it will install MS SQL Server 2005)
