SQL 2005 Express Upgrade with ACT! 2006 Present

I am running a standalone version of ACT! 2006 Version 8.0.2.82 on a XP PRO SP3 Dell notebook using MSDE.  I have another application that uses the DEFAULT instance of MSDE for a query database.  I will need to upgrade my DEFAULT instance with SQL 2005 Express due to new software requirements on my primary application.  Can I do this with ACT! 2006 present or will it kill my contact database?

Re: SQL 2005 Express Upgrade with ACT! 2006 Present

The 2 versions of SQL should work together on the same machine. Best practice is to stop all instances of MSDE before installing SQL 2005. You can restart them after SQL 2005 is installed.

Note: Effective 6/1/13, Sage no longers provides support for the Act! software. This is now provided by Swiftpage.

That did the trick.  Installed SQL 2005 Express without upgrading.  Both ACT! 2006 and my updated software application are "happy campers".  Thank you for the information!
