Restoring Contacts

I have been cleaning up contactsa in dataase and i clicked on 1 contact which resulted in all but 2 records being deleted so the  pad file is only 250bytes I notice there is a .adf and .alf file in the same same with 11mb and 23.5 mb respectively, am i able to use these files to restore my database I am using  SAGE ACT Pro 2011.

Re: Restoring Contacts

Graeme,
The PAD file is only a 'pointer' file - telling ACT! where to find the actual database file, which is the ADF. The ALF is a log file, it is used hand-in-hand with the ADF.

Do you happen have a backup of the database? From your message it seems you don't, but if you do: it can be restored using the File > Restore > Database > Restore As option.

Re: Restoring Contacts

I hate to hear that you don't have a backup...

By chance had you created a remote database to sync with? Or created a copy to put on someones workstation?

Perhaps you had used the Export to Excel option to have a list of contacts... it wouldn't be all data, but better than nothing.
