Re: Restoring Contact Database

First a little background.

a pad file is a short text file pointing to teh actual database. It is easily created and is not your data

an ACT backup has a .zip extension - you resore these using file, restore in ACT. From there there are two choices under Restore. Restore (this restores a database back to the same machine.  - be careful with this one as it could overwrite your existing database.

the other is Restore As. This will give you a chance to extract the ACT database to a new location with a new name. - you can only have a single copy of an ACT database with the same name on one machine.

So, with this information, can you tell us which you are trying to do? Open a database with a pad file, or restore a backup?

Re: Restoring Contact Database

How did you make the backup? If you used a third party backup program the database files you want have the extensions ADF and ALF.
