Restore Fails on Act 2006

Hi everyone. I have a backup of my Act Database (in the zip file) that won't restore.

Every time I attempt via the "restore as" option I get the following window:

"c1c1zipzlipzsstream exception error inflating: oversubscribed dyamic bit lengths tree" bla bla bla

(it does not really say bla bla bla but goes on and on with this error message)

Has anyone encountered this before? This was a fresh install of Act. The reason I did the back up was...to restore it!! Any help would be appreciated. This is not a user message it looks like the restore crashes. Mike

Is it possible you transferred the file via FTP?
I know this will happen if the ZIP is sent via FTP without being set to Binary

Hi Mike, Thanks for replying. The file was copied to a cd for transfer to the new laptop. Is there anything else you can think of? Mike

This is the ZIP file?

Maybe make sure it's not Read Only afte copying it to the other machine. CDs will usually force a read-only flag and this might cause an issue

Re: Restore Fails on Act 2006

Hi Mike, you got me thinking and I checked the read only status and it was not ticked, so I then tried to do a plain unzip to a folder and a message came up saying that the file was corrupt. I re-copied it from my original back-up and voila! - it worked!!!

Thanks again for you help and suggestions - I really appreciate it. Mike
