So I got a new device, a Surface Pro 3 running Windows 8.1 Pro. I ordered and downloaded Act v16 as my old Act!2009 wasn't compatible with Windows 8.
I am unable to open Act v16 after downloading. I get the following error message....
Resolution of the dependency failed, type = "Act.UI.ActApplication", name = "". Exception message is: The current build operation (build key Build Key[Act.UI.ActApplication, null]) failed: Access to the path 'C:\Users\dmwa\AppData\Roaming\ActUpdate.log' is denied. (Strategy type BuildPlanStrategy, index 3)
Can anyone please help me fix this?

I'm guessing here.
Your .net framework is not up to date yet.
Manually check for windows updates and and apply them. You may need to re-boot pc and repeat manually checking for updates.
Control panel / windows update.
If stil having problem after that, may try to re-install ACT! ?
Reference your error message in the knowledge base
Then remember to go to the download center and apply needed service paks and hotfixes..

I downloaded all windows updates. I also rebooted many times. I have re-installed Act numerous times but still get the same error message. Any other ideas I can try? VERY frustrating! Thanks again for any help.

Still just guessing.
Are you sure you have downloaded and installed the service paks and hotfixes for act v16? manually using the act download center website page?
If yes, then
I suspect you still have some more windows updates to be installed? They may not show up until tomorrow when you manually attempt to check foro updates.?
Most likely .net related ?
your .current .net is doodoo and needs to be reinstalled?

I double checked the install of the service packs and hotfixes for v16. The service packs installed fine. However the hotfixes from the Act download center website page seem to be incorrect. After attempting to install them I get the message "This update does not apply to this version of Act!, please verify you have the correct update."
I had my company tech guys double check all windows updates. He said it wasn't updating but now is and all updates should be in place. I did manually check for updates several times and it said no new ones available.
I also uninstalled and reinstalled .net. I think I did it correctly.
Still not working. My tech guys have given up. They said maybe Act people can help as they are familiar with Act software.
Any other ideas? Or if your still willing to assist remotely it would be hugely appreciated!

So what are your new pc specs? ram? etc.. You need at LEAST 4 gig of ram
Check out these requirements and let me know know if this helps.

I've attached the specs (below). It looks like I've got 4 GB RAM that is required. It looks like I meet other requirements as well. What do you think? I'm at a loss.
