Reports opportunity designing Template

I want a report template that shows sales "stage" then have a section of "Status" to included but Won Lost Inactive but not  open as they are in my stage process. Is this possible and where can I find in depth knowledge on reports I find them very confusing can anyone simply explain sections and structure of report design templates. Regards Speros

When running an Opportunity Report, you can set the filter to include the Status you want.

Yes Ive tried that but those filters don't appear in the report when selected even when I create a new template. and make no changes.

I get the impression that you want the filters to modify the report itself. The filters will block some data from showing in the report but to change what is included in the report you need to build that into the report template.
